Aim high

The «Tritt», with its 220 either wooden or metal steps anchored in the rocks between Arosa and Davos, is one of the most exhilarating crossings in Graubünden. Many more other highlights also await you though – a scenic ridge hike on Piz Danis and Tällifurgga, a high-flying visit to the Parpaner Rothorn and the narrow paths on the Strela Pass provide plenty of variety.

Explore famous places such as Davos-Klosters, Lenzerheide or Arosa in their full summer bloom. You might even learn a few words of Romansh while sitting on a restaurant terrace and enjoying the view of the magnificent mountain panorama … it’s one highlight after another in the heart of Graubünden.

Itinerary

After you’ve dropped your luggage drop-off at the hotel, you can look forward to a cable car ride to Tgantieni. Your hike starts here, and takes you to Piz Scalotas, Piz Danis and the Stätzerhorn, where a spectacular ridge walk awaits you. The descent down to Stätzer Täli is steep, which is why you can shorten the last section to Churwalden by taking the cable car if you wish. Then it’s just a bus journey back to Lenzerheide.

A cable car ride takes you up to the Parpaner Rothorn, a place where iron ore were mined in the past – for example at Totälpli. Hardly any traces of this are recognisable on the descent, though. Arosa awaits you at the bottom, as do all the tourist amenities.

The first stop today is Alp Medergen, an original Walser alp with a mountain restaurant. The hiking trail then narrows into a mountain path where the “Tritt” is a key section. At the end of the stage, the stunning views down to Davos will open up before you.

From touristy Davos, the trail leads into the idyllic Dischma valley and on through Rüedisch Tälli. At Tällifurgga, another panoramic ridge trail awaits you. Once you return to the civilisation of the Sertig valley, it’s time to board the bus from Sertig Dörfli back to Davos.

Take the funicular up to Schatzalp, then walk over hill and dale up to the Strela Pass and on to the Weissfluhjoch, the highest point of today’s hike. The varied mountain panorama remains with you as you descend to Klosters, where you’ll collect your luggage and depart.

Tour character

A head for heights and surefootedness are essential, especially on the ridge path to Piz Danis, on the alpine mountain trail between Parpaner Rothorn and Weisshorn and over numerous passes. Key sections, such as the “Tritt”, are secured with ropes. Some stages can be bypassed with cable cars, but you’ll still need to be in good physical condition for the longer stages and the considerable increases in altitude.
