Itinerary
By bus over Dielsdorf to Regensberg. Gently uphill through vineyards to the small town of Regensberg and Lägern with wonderful views. After a demanding descent towards Baden you can relax in the town.
From Baden further to the Gebenstorfer Horn with views of Switzerland’s natural water resources, Brugg on the River Aare and nearby Windisch.
After crossing Brugg's old town, the first uphill stretch to the Vier Linden country guesthouse embedded in the Jurapark, and via the forest to the ancient as well as legendary Linner Linde (linden tree). On uphill through shady forests to the Schenkenberg ruins, seen from afar, and on to Staffelegg/Herzberg.
Get to know five passes: Staffelegg, Bänkerjoch, Salhöhe, Schafmatt and lastly the Untere Hauenstein. In between, lots of woodland, many pastures and the rugged Geissfluh vantage point on the border of Baselland.
En route to Belchenfluh, the many buildings and coats of arms are reminders of Swiss defences in two World Wars. Soon follows tiny Bärenwil, on via Tiefmatt to Roggen. Far below, Balsthal greets you with its Neu-Falkenstein castle and paper mill.
A steep climb over the Hellchöpfli past pastures and mountain inns to the Weissenstein near Solothurn. Enjoy the view over the Mittelland to the Alpine peaks from Säntis to Mont Blanc. Take the cable car down to Solothurn and pick up your luggage at the train station.
Tour character
For the Lägerngrat on the first day you need to be surefooted and head from hights. However, you can easily avoid the exposed passages. Otherwise, the tour is easy and good to walk. Challenging are only the last two long stages.

Leave the car at home! For every bike, biking or hiking tour in Switzerland, you will receive an SBB coupon per participant, which you can use to deduct CHF 10.- from the ticket price for traveling by train. The reduction can be obtained in the SBB online store or in the SBB app.
On many trips, we use the luggage counters at the stations at the beginning and at the end to hand over the suitcases. You can conveniently combine this right away when you arrive by train. If you are a GA owner, you can provide this information when booking. We will credit you the amount on the invoice. If you don't need the coupon for the trip itself, you can use it during the year. Unfortunately, a retroactive refund is not possible for administrative reasons.
