Challenging high-level trail between Saas-Fee and Grächen, extremely exposed in places as it leads through the steep walls of the Balfrin group. Dizzying views deep into the Saastal, enthralling views of the Fletschhorn, Lagginhorn and Weissmies.

First section of the Europaweg trail. Starting with a steep climb to the ridge, then with superb views along the steep flanks of the Mischabel on the spectacular high-level trail to the Europahütte (hut). Sensational panorama dominated by the Weisshorn.

Tour character

The first stage to Grächen is a real challenge. Exposed sections are secured with ropes and a head for heights and sure-footedness are absolutely essential right from the start. The following stages along the Europe Trail have been made somewhat easier in recent years. However, good physical condition is also required for the hiking days to Zermatt.
